Instructors: CourseLink Tools

The information on this page is intended for instructors using a CourseLink course site.

Zoom to Teams

The University of Guelph is preparing to adopt Microsoft Teams as its central platform for communication and collaboration. Effective Winter 2027, Teams will serve as the University’s primary environment for virtual meetings, instructional engagement, and collaborative work.

To support a successful transition, faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to begin familiarizing themselves with Teams as soon as possible. Exploring the platform now will help ensure a smooth and confident move to the new collaboration experience.

Meeting Size

Up to 1,000 active participants can join a Microsoft Teams meeting with interactive audio, video, and chat. After that, additional attendees join in a view-only overflow capacity (up to 10,000 total).

For events requiring a larger audience, webinar-style broadcasting, moderated participation, or enhanced presenter controls, Microsoft Teams Live Events can support up to 10,000 attendees. Learn more about Teams Live Events here: CCS Teams Live Events
